Introduction

Spending time away from university is usually a great experience that flies by. There are some small, easy things you can do to make the experience even better and to help you remember what you have done once you get home.

This site contains resources and advice to help you make the most of your summer away by reflecting on the experiences you are having – while you are having them. Reflecting like this is really important when thinking about selling your experience to employers – it will also help you to see how you have developed personally by going away.

We’ve made the pages quick and easy to use – you can spend as much or as little time as you want thinking on them.  We’ve suggested a way of how you might work through the topics but the choice is entirely yours – you can pick and choose what you want to look at and when.  You might even find you’re doing some of it already.

Don’t forget that you can continue to use the University of Edinburgh Careers Service while you are away from the University. You can access our website at www.ed.ac.uk/careers, we offer appointments via Skype for students who are away from Edinburgh and keep an eye out for various webinar events.
